AI for Good? AI for God: Exploring AI’s Ability to be Adaptive to Your Specific Mission and Vision
Thursday, September 17 at 12:30 p.m. EDT
Join Darren Spyksma, associate executive director for the Society of Christian Schools in British Columbia and founder of Amplify-AI, in a conversation exploring a theological and pedagogical approach to the use of emerging AI technologies in Christian education. Hear how the role of guiding principles before policy has allowed their educator facing work to be adaptable and sustainable, guiding their engagement with student facing tools. Lastly, hear a vision for a Christian Education AI Incubator that will allow schools to adapt tools that have already been created (in the areas of Special Education, Unit and Lesson Planning, and Teaching for Transformation) or use the foundational work already done to build something that is custom designed for their school’s unique mission and vision.

Darren Spyksma is committed to promoting learning built on meaningful relationships, is demanding and rigorous, and engaging and relevant for the learner. He works with schools to intentionally develop a way of being represented in selecting practices, implemented over time, toward a common vision for learning and student wholeness. It is through the creation of learning experiences for students and staff that transformation is possible. Before joining the staff at SCSBC as an Associate Executive Director and Director of Learning, Darren worked at four schools in various positions, including administration. In two of those schools, he supported a team in shaping middle years programs that are responsive to the developmental needs of adolescents.
How Did Jesus Develop Intellectually?
Tuesday, October 6 at 12:30 p.m. EDT
Jesus “grew in stature and wisdom” according to Luke’s Gospel. What does that mean? We will explore the childhood and intellectual development of Jesus according to the clues in the gospels and think about what that means for us as educators.
Catch this In the Loop before joining us for our Bible Symposium on October 14, facilitated by Dr. Dru Johnson.

Future Ready: Forming Students to Flourish in an Age of Accelerating Technology
Thursday, November 12 at 12:30 p.m. EST
Christian schools are responding to an urgent phone crisis—distraction, anxiety, bullying, and declining attention—but these are only the first signs of a much larger technological shift. Artificial intelligence, wearable computing, immersive technologies, and what comes next will reshape not only how students learn, but how they think, relate, worship, and understand what it means to be human.
So what does it mean for a Christian school to be truly future ready?
In this session, Christina Crook invites Christian educators to move beyond reactive technology policies toward a vision of intentional digital formation. Drawing on Christian theology, emerging technology trends, and practical experience working with schools, she will explore how we can cultivate wisdom, attention, resilience, and embodied community in students before the next wave of technology arrives. Because preparing students for the future isn’t ultimately about helping them master new technologies—it’s about forming the kind of people who can faithfully steward them.
