Job Description

The Academic Intervention Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for implementing and refining systems that ensure effective academic support for students.  Over time, this position will oversee support in Preschool-8th grade, but the initial focus will be primarily in the elementary grades (K-5).  This role focuses on structuring and overseeing the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) with a particular emphasis on Tier 2 interventions.  The coordinator will support data collection, refine tracking systems, and facilitate data-driven decision-making related to interventions.  This highly collaborative position requires working closely with teachers, administrators, and interventionists to ensure consistency in intervention practices, monitor student progress, and facilitate smooth transitions between support tiers.  Additionally, the coordinator will directly supervise and support interventionists and provide limited direct support to students.

Position Specifics:

  • Apply and refine criteria for determining when students move between Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support.
  • Develop and manage schedules for interventionists, ensuring the effective allocation of student support.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions, track student progress, and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Guide interventionists and teachers in reviewing student progress data to inform Tier 2 intervention planning and adjustments.
  • Implement and oversee systems for tracking student progress, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Supervise interventionists, providing guidance, support, and accountability.
  • Facilitate meetings to review student progress, intervention effectiveness, and next steps for support.
  • Work directly with students in need of Tier 2 support or who have not demonstrated sufficient growth in Tier 2 interventions to identify next steps for support.
  • Ensure that intervention practices reflect and uphold the school’s Christian mission and values.
