On July 15, 2024, members of the CSI Accreditation Commission and members of the CSI Accreditation Team met to review CSI member schools’ accreditation site visit reports and 2023–2024 annual reporting. We are pleased to share that four member schools earned CSI Accreditation for the first time; 130 schools received accreditation renewals; and 36 CSI member schools were granted continued accreditation candidacy.
Please join us in congratulating CSI’s four newly accredited schools (Eastern Christian School in North Haledon, NJ; Kansas City Christian School in Prairie Village, KS; Ripon Christian Schools in Ripon, CA; and The Potter’s House in Grand Rapids, MI) as well as our 36 accreditation candidates and 130 schools who were granted accreditation renewal for demonstrating their commitment to striving for mission excellence and continual school improvement. (See end of article for a complete list of schools.)
The Role of the CSI Accreditation Commission
The CSI Accreditation Commission has perhaps the most important role in the process of school accreditation. After the intense work of the CSI Accreditation process which schools undertake to demonstrate their commitment to mission excellence and continual school improvement, the Commission has the privilege of granting CSI member schools their new or renewed accreditation status. Serving a six-year term, commissioners review accreditation reports and recommendations twice a year (in January and July) and vote on a status for each school. In addition, the Commission is tasked with approving recommended changes to be made to the CSI accreditation process, protocol, and standards.
The seven members of the CSI Accreditation Commission are current or retired heads of school or faculty members from CSI accredited schools, who have some level of experience and familiarity with the CSI Accreditation process. Our commissioners are representative of the wide range of schools that are now a part of CSI Accreditation. Residing in the states of California, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, and North Carolina, these individuals have served or currently serve at traditional, University Model, Charlotte Mason, and Christian classical model schools with wide ranges of enrollments, campus sizes, and school populations. The work of the Commission and each member’s commitment and experience for the accreditation process are deeply appreciated. One commissioner shared:
“When Director of CSI Accreditation Sheryl Jo asked me to serve as a commissioner for CSI Accreditation about a month ago, to say that I was hesitant was probably an understatement. Our school is continuing to strive for improvements in areas identified in our last accreditation visit, and we are also in the midst of exploring the possibilities of capital campaigns at both campuses. However, as I reflected on the importance of the work that is being done in our Christian schools throughout our country, I realized this was an important call that I needed to consider. I am honored to be asked to serve on the CSI Accreditation Commission and pray that I can serve all our CSI schools in a capacity that allows for schools to continue to do the great work that they are doing in their communities. I also pray that this call will help me personally grow as an individual who is striving to serve our King in all that I do. I look forward to working alongside the other commissioners to do our part in walking alongside schools that are either being re-accredited or going through the Measuring the Mission accreditation process for the first time.”
The CSI Accreditation process could not move forward without these individuals who answered the call to engage in this Kingdom work for the growth and continued excellence of CSI-accredited schools.
There is a place for your school within CSI Accreditation! If you have questions about CSI Accreditation or are interested in becoming accredited, please contact Sheryl Jo, director of accreditation.
