Elementary Lead Teacher

Under the direction of the site administrator, to provide a Christ-centered educational program for students; to assist in other school programs and a

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides an instructional program utilizing the adopted HP curriculum for assigned students by teaching: Reading, Grammar, Writing, Phonics, Spelling, History, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Bible, and Character Education as well as integrating with special area teachers.

2. Implements administrative regulations and procedures as defined in the Parent & Student Handbook.

3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide planned experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize instructional time through the use of direct, small group, and collaborative instruction.

4. Utilizes the appropriate instructional techniques, activities, strategies, and supplemental materials that will adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual pupils and be consistent with the goals of Horizon Prep.

5. Consistently utilizes technology in the classroom as a tool for student learning.

6. Evaluates, maintains accurate records of academic and social growth of students.

7. Use of RenWeb to maintain accurate records.

8. Maintains documentation and record keeping for necessary information regarding students.

9. Communicates clearly with parents and supervisor regarding student progress, parent concerns, classroom procedures, student assignments and expectations, and school programs through the use of weekly newsletters, emails, and parent/teacher conferences, etc.

10. Working as a team with your grade level team teacher to plan and implement academically rigorous lessons during prep times and other allotted team planning time.

11. Collaborate with other faculty members regarding the progress of individual students.

12. Identifies needs of students and collaborates with other relevant faculty members in assessing and resolving health, attitude, and learning issues.

13. Differentiates instruction for specific needs of gifted and higher achieving students or intervention students.

14. Administers mandated tests and quarterly assessments in accordance with HP standards.

15. Fulfills assigned responsibilities for student supervision.

16. Participates in curriculum development and other academic and school committees as assigned by administrator.

17. Performs basic attendance records, textbook and materials counting, and other business services as required, including RenWeb records.

18. Prepares and submits all required reports such as lesson plans, newsletters, and assessments as required in a timely manner.

19. Keeps current academic and behavioral records, prepares progress reports and report cards, maintains cumulative folders as required.

20. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service educational activities, and seeks out professional growth activities.

21. Provides demonstration lessons and samples of student work during observations by supervisor while cooperating with the evaluator in the development and implementation of suitable activities to improve teacher effectiveness or other deficiencies.

22. Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times.

23. Creates a “Model Classroom” environment for students that are functional, well organized, attractive, and conducive to learning through creative displays, bulletin boards and classroom décor.

24. Maintains that all communications to students, parents, and administrators are of the highest quality (e.g. Newsletters, Tests, Assignments).

Education Requirements

Education:

Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.


Experience:

Successful completion of a student teaching experience or approved internship at an accredited college or university.


Credential:

A valid teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or other approving authorizing states to service in the assigned area.
