Head of School

Brentwood Academy (TN) is seeking a visionary leader of deep faith to further a strong legacy of Christian schooling.

Located outside Nashville, Tennessee, Brentwood Academy (BA) has served students in grades 6 through 12 for more than 50 years, nurturing and challenging each whole person to grow in body, mind, and spirit to the glory of God. BA currently has 766 students. BA is recognized nationally and is a respected peer to the top independent schools in Nashville. As a founding member of the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA), BA continues to be an advocate for Christian schooling.

BA’s dedication to excellence impacts students, providing for growth in each area of its mission. The next Head of School will further the strong BA legacy established by Curt Masters during his 24-year tenure as Head of School. The Brentwood Academy Board is seeking a visionary leader of deep faith who will embrace the many opportunities available at BA. The Head of School will work to maximize potential through inspiring and motivating faculty and staff who invest sacrificially to bring the mission of the school to life. The Head of School will also work to meet five primary goals. These goals focus on developing students as whole persons, pursuing academic excellence, fostering a diverse and united school community, further strengthening BA’s financial position through delivering a compelling value proposition, and pursuing robust development cultivation to support and strengthen the delivery of BA’s mission.

The next Head of School will partner with and impact development efforts to complete the multi-year “Forward in Faith” campaign to expand facilities and increase offerings. As CEO of BA, the Head of School will continue to shape and develop the strong administrative team, empowering them and equipping them to work collaboratively as a leadership team to maintain the mission and maximize potential.

Job Requirements

  • The BA Head of School will be an enthusiastic and committed follower of Christ and an active member of a local church, gifted and experienced in articulating a biblical worldview. He or she must be scripturally sound in his or her thinking and teaching. He or she must live an exemplary life.
  • The Head of School will have proven promotional skills. The candidate’s administrative record will reflect that he/she has enjoyed valuable results promoting previous schools/organizations by inspiring and involving individuals and groups who actively provided prayer, personal, and financial support.
  • The Head of School will have exhibited his/her visionary leadership with a track record of short-range and long-range planning for each of their previous roles.
  • The Head of School will have demonstrated success as a seasoned administrator, most likely in a Christian school, but possibly in an independent school, higher education, or the private sector. Deep knowledge of and passion for Christian education through board service or professional experience is imperative.
  • The Head of School will fully agree with the Statement of Faith and Diversity Statement of Brentwood Academy.

Education Requirements

The Head of School will ideally have an advanced degree (or equivalent experience).
