Position is responsible for:

  • Instructing middle school students in the field of instrumental music and creating a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Motivates students to develop an interest in and an appreciation of the art of music.
  • Develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ interests and abilities.


Job Requirements

  • Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily teaching
  • Instruct middle school school students in developing knowledge and skills in orchestra
  • Enable students to develop an appreciation of the art of music.
  • Demonstrate techniques to students in orchestra instrumental music concepts.
  • Develop clear and concise instructional lesson plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of preparation, instruction, and rehearsal time.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and musical repertoire appropriate for the ages and skill level of students.
  • Define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior in the classroom. Create and model an environment of respect and care during practice, group rehearsals, and musical performances.
  • Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical programs for the school and community.
  • Instruct students in the proper care and use of equipment.
  • Maintain an organized and workable inventory of all music and equipment related to the orchestra program.
  • Make minor adjustments to musical equipment and request repairs as appropriate.
  • Evaluate student performance and growth in knowledge and understanding and prepare regular progress reports.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Maintain thorough records for each student.
  • Select, requisition, and maintain books, instructional materials, and instructional aids.
  • Support the mission and vision of the school.
  • Exhibits a growth mindset in learning, teaching, and faith development.


Education Requirements

  1. A bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred
  2. A valid MI teaching certificate preferred
  3. Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.
  4. Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills
  5. In-depth knowledge of music techniques and skills.
  6. Ability to instruct students in instrumental music.
  7. Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students in a Christian school environment.
