Head of School

The Head of School is to advance the mission and vision of Otsego Christian School by providing overall leadership and supervision of the school.

Personal and Spiritual Leadership

  • Must be able to develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a positive school environment.
  • Exhibits the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) when interacting with others, seeking to model Christ in attitude, speech, in actions.
  • Demonstrates continual growth in biblical knowledge and in spiritual maturity.

Administrative Leadership

  • Provide executive leadership in implementing Board policies to the overall operation of Otsego Christian School, keeping the BOD sufficiently appraised of significant events and issues in the school.
  • Ensure that the school is in compliance with all appropriate governmental codes and/or regulations.
  • Establish and implement administrative/management policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operation of the school.
  • Recruits, screens, and hires quality faculty and staff, and provides appropriate supervision support, and evaluation of all direct reports.
  • Analyze and develop plans to address facility needs, ensuring good management and use of all the OCS facilities.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of all school and Board committees, and perform other tasks as requested by the BOD.

Educational Leadership

  • Provide oversight and leadership in the overall educational performance of the school.
  • Ensure that curriculum and textbooks are properly evaluated, adopted, and implemented.
  • Maintain an active accreditation status of the school.
  • Lead Professional Development initiatives for teachers and staff.

Financial Management

  • Work directly with our outside financial accountant to propose a balanced budget to the BOD.
  • Ensures school finances are handled with integrity and with proper accounting.

Marketing and Fund Development Leadership

  • Establish healthy student enrollment through student recruitment and student retention plan.
  • Organize and maintain a strong program for interpreting the school to its own constituents and to the
  • community.
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with churches, organizations, and the community
  • Assist the BOD with long-range planning and strategic planning and lead the school in implementing these
  • plans.
  • Organize and lead fundraising strategies and direct as needed and assist the BOD in establishing a sound fund
  • development program.

Job Requirements

Faith

  • Must be a born-again Christian, whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Bible.
  • Must be committed to attending and joining, as a member, one of the area churches.

Leadership

  • Acts as a visionary leader, implementing innovative ideas that will continue to enhance the culture, and bring growth and relevance to Christian education.
  • Is a servant leader who possesses a humble and compassionate heart with listening ears.
  • Empowers those serving alongside them and is able to cultivate employee morale by implementing relational interactions and maintaining approachability with all faculty and staff.
  • Recognizes Christ as the model for leadership by extending confidence, boldness and assurance as a leader, being a strategic thinker and problem solver.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in education.

Classroom teaching experience.

Three years’ experience of school leadership (preferred).

Agree with OCS’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
