West Side Christian School is seeking an 80% special education teacher/20% middle school classroom teacher dedicated to growing students’ minds, guiding student hearts, and glorifying Jesus Christ. The Educational Support Services (ESS) program at West Side Christian School is designed to provide additional academic support to students with documented learning challenges as identified through educational testing, the response to intervention model, individual education plans, and/or 504 plans. The Special Education teacher will have a caseload of students and will work closely with students, parents, and the school faculty to facilitate student learning.

Basic Responsibilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers concerning students who are at-risk in the learning environment.
- Evaluate and diagnose skills, learning styles, neurodevelopmental patterns, and disabilities (Diagnostic Role)
- Remediate learning deficits through direct instruction with students (Teaching Role)
- Promote understanding and use of student specific accommodations/modifications (Advocacy Role)
Principle Tasks
- Collaborate and consult with general education teachers, administrators, and parents concerning students receiving direct and indirect support from the Educational Support Services team, including issues of:
- Academic adjustment
- Social development
- Behavioral change
- Providing materials as necessary
- Meet regularly as needed with Student Success Teams to discuss student progress and to make decisions about support
- Be involved as needed within the established RtI Benchmarking and Progress Monitoring protocol
- Be involved in Tier III evaluations of students relative to academic progress and learning needs
- Make suggestions concerning effective teaching strategies relative to assessment results
- Help coordinate individualized student plans, including accommodations, updating them annually and as needed
- Help design and support the delivery of instruction appropriate to the neurodevelopmental and academic needs of students who have disabilities (including home and life skills as needed)
- Integrate a variety of materials into the learning environment appropriate to the unique learning styles of those receiving Educational Support Services
- Maintain records of student objectives and student progress
- Maintain communication with parents of students Educational Support Services
- Participate in parent meetings during scheduled school conferences and as needed
- Assist with training and evaluation of paraprofessional staff members
