Job Title: Preschool-8th Grade PE Teacher

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employment Status: Full-time, 40 hours; 10 months

Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning

Date: 2/1/25

PURPOSE/FUNCTION: Plans lessons for Preschool to 8th Grade PE classes. Coaches at least one Middle School sport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Works with PreK-8 students in a variety of settings.
2. Leads students in the learning of Physical Education, taking into account gross motor developmental milestones. 
3. Thinks creatively and works with all staff to help students grow in coordinated movement development. 
4. Is positive and enthusiastic with all students. 
5. Understands and works with a variety of student ability levels. 
6. Helps with positive behavior management strategies for all students. 
7. Maintains confidentiality for students at MCS.
8. Helps with administrative duties as needed.
9. Communicates clearly through speaking and writing. 
10. Maintains current gradebook with quantitative and qualitative data. 
11. Ability to be a coach of at least one Middle School sport.
12.  Other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission of Moline Christian School.
• A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Physical Education or a related discipline is required. A current Michigan Teaching license or the ability to transfer a license from another state to a MI License in Physical Education or a related endorsement is required. 
• Adept at using classroom technology.
• Ability and flexibility to be trained in a variety of subject areas.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities in inclusion settings.
• Character, call, and availability to fulfill the needs of the job description.
• Highly motivated and able to work collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to problem-solve and think creatively.
• Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student matters.

• This is a role that requires equal amounts of standing/walking and sitting at a desk for the majority of the school day.
