Job Description

South Olive Christian School (GHC) is seeking a part-time certified Spanish teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The position is approximately 6-8 hours per week with some flexibility on the weekly schedule.

  • Develop and grow the SOCS Spanish program
  • Teach rotating sections of Spanish classes at the K-8 level
  • Participate in student life while present
  • Display a deep knowledge of Spanish and teach it from a Biblical perspective
  • Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to students lives
  • Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through teaching, counseling, encouragement, and mentoring
  • Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom by using appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Adhere to South Olive Christian School policies, procedures/processes and codes

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
  • Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school
  • Agree to uphold to the South Olive Christian’s Statement of Faith
  • Must have adequate Spanish communication skills as well as an understanding of varying teaching modalities
  • Must have an excitement about working with elementary and middle school students
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions

Education Requirements

Applicants should have a degree in either Spanish or an Elementary Education and either a valid Michigan State teaching license or willingness to work towards one.
