Job Description
The Educational Support Services Paraeducator assists teachers by providing instructional, physical, social/emotional and behavioral support to students, including but not limited to large group, small group and one to one settings. Paraeducator positions are evaluated each year and subject to change based on enrollment and classroom/student needs.
Job Requirements
- Support the work of the inclusion specialist, Tier II interventionist and/or classroom teachers
- Provide direct instruction to students, as needed
- Perform limited screening and assessment
- Assist with providing accommodations/modifications in assignments and curriculum
- Pre-teach and reteach identified general education content
- Provide alternative testing formats
- Participate in planning/progress monitoring meetings with direct supervisor
- Provide support to students with health/personal care needs
- Encourage and support positive social relationships/friendships among students
- Assist in carrying out individualized student plans, focusing on student goals
- Document student progress
- Communicate frequently and effectively with the teaching team
- Implement behavior management plan consistent with the teaching team
Education Requirements
- Teaching experience and certification preferred
- Must be 18 years or older
- Experience interacting with children of varied abilities
