Job Description
- Develop and grow the SOCS Fine Arts program, including the planning and leading of productions during the school year
- Teach rotating sections of music classes at the Preschool to 8th grade level
- Connect with middle school drama director to insure alignment
- Participate in student life while present
- Display a deep knowledge of Music and teach it from a Biblical perspective
- Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to students lives
- Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through teaching, counseling, encouragement, and mentoring
- Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom by using appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules
- Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors
- Adhere to South Olive Christian School policies, procedures/processes and codes
Job Requirements
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
- Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school
- Agree to uphold to the South Olive Christian’s Statement of Faith
- Must have adequate vocal and instrumental skill set as well as an understanding of varying musical styles (classical, musical theater, worship). The candidate must also excel at: rhythmic stability, musicality, reading open score, and sight reading
- Must have ability to lead production rehearsals
- Must have the ability to design shows, events, and thrive on a team of artists
- Must have an excitement about working with elementary and middle school students
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
Education Requirements
- Strong supervisory skills and classroom leadership desired
- Music/Fine Arts teaching experience preferred
- College/University degree in Fine Arts / Music Education preferred
- Certified/approved to teach
Related Benefits
The job is for two full teaching days per week. Right now, music is scheduled to be taught on Monday and Friday. However, there may be room to adjust those dates.
