Our Mission statement is “The purpose of Peoria Christian School is to nurture each child’s unique potential as an image bearer of God, develop the student’s capacity for the enjoyment of the created world, and to educate the total person.”
Founded in 1907, Peoria Christian School is a small school in an idyllic rural setting, less than 10 miles from Historic downtown Pella, Iowa. We emphasize instruction from a Christian perspective and personalized learning support. In recent years, we averaged 40-50 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Currently, we serve 22 families from the surrounding areas of Pella, New Sharon, Oskaloosa, Tracy, Sully, Lynnville, and Searsboro.
Job Requirements
- Teach the combined 7th and 8th grade class part time- the exact subjects and percentage to be determined based on the strengths of all teachers on the team
- Instruct from a Christian perspective
- Implementation of all teacher in-service
- Regularly meet for personalized learning solutions (PLS)
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior as well as a commitment to the school’s Reformed perspective of Christian Education.
- Ability to work as a team member, relate well with students, and have the ability to effectively communicate with students and parents.
- Demonstrate a passion for Christian education and love of students.
Education Requirements
Professional:
- BA degree in Education
- Iowa teaching or substitute license, or ability to obtain such a license
Spiritual:
- Personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
- Active and faithful membership in a local church in agreement with our Statement of Faith
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Christian education.
- Agreement with Peoria Christian School’s statement of faith
