Job Description
Bradenton Christian seeks qualified, committed Christian candidates for the position of Long-Term Substitute Teacher (High School English), who will faithfully support Bradenton Christian School’s mission statement to prepare the hearts and minds of God’s covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God’s world. It is the High School English Teacher’s responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.
Summary:
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher (High School English) reports to the Secondary Principal and is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the teacher while delivering an engaging and rigorous English course.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a love for God and strong Christian walk; Mentors and models for their students what it means to be a follower of Christ. Exemplifies Biblical principles and standards of Christ-like excellence in every facet of learning.
- Establishes a developmentally appropriate, positive, and safe learning environment in which they teach subject matter that encourages students to develop and fulfill their spiritual and academic potential.
- Plans and develops an engaging course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and curriculum guidelines.
- Delivers lesson plans provided by the teacher while using a variety of teaching techniques and appealing to various learning styles.
- Develops respectful and trusting relationships with each individual student, facilitates opportunities for spiritual, academic, and behavioral growth from a Christ centered Biblical worldview.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, school leadership, and fellow teachers through consistent communication and collaboration.
- Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance reports, and other necessary records.
- Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
- Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in education.

Job Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities:
- A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a team player with a desire to help and serve others.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with parents, students, and teachers.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher, subject area field or education degree preferred.
- FL Teaching Certificate or Eligible for a FL Teaching Certificate certified in English.
