Position Summary

Kalamazoo Christian High School seeks a dedicated, highly-skilled Industrial Arts Teacher to join our faculty & contribute to our mission & vision of providing a compelling, Christ-centered high school experience. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator rooted in the reformed, Christian tradition who is eager to integrate their faith, biblical worldview, & an appreciation for God’s creation into all aspects of the Industrial Arts curriculum.

This role requires teaching a traditional industrial arts program, including woodworking, basic automotive mechanics, small engine maintenance/repair, basic welding, & basic DIY projects.  Additionally, this role would require the teacher to develop an emerging technologies curriculum including but not limited to 3D printing, drones, & robotics.  The teacher will foster a hands-on learning environment where students develop practical skills, problem-solving abilities, & an understanding of how their gifts can be used in service to others.


Job Requirements

  • Instructional Excellence & Biblical Integration
      • Develop & deliver a rigorous, engaging curriculum for all industrial arts & emerging technologies courses.
      • Employ a variety of effective teaching methods, focusing on project-based learning & practical application of skills.
      • Intentionally integrate reformed, Christian worldview into instruction & learning.
  • Shop Management & Safety
      • Maintain a safe, organized, & functional workshop/lab environment, ensuring all equipment is in excellent working order.
      • Manage budgets, inventory, & material acquisition for all programs.
      • Train & enforce all shop safety protocols rigorously.
  • Community & Collaboration
    • Actively participate in the school’s thriving, collaborative faculty culture, prioritizing open communication & mutual encouragement.
    • Contribute to the building of a flourishing community by advising, mentoring students, & supporting co-curricular activities.

Qualifications

  • Personal Faith
      • A clear, active commitment to Jesus Christ & full affirmation of the school’s statement of faith & mission.
    •  
  • Experience
      • Proven expertise &/or professional experience in woodworking & at least one other required area (automotive/emerging technologies). Prior high school teaching experience is a plus.
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic, hands-on classroom; excellent communication & interpersonal skills; a commitment to excellence in learning for all students.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Industrial Arts, Technology Education, Engineering, or a related field. Teaching certification is preferred but not required for candidates with extensive professional experience.
