Job Description

Position Summary:

The Head of School at Washington Christian Academy is responsible for carrying out the mission of the school by leading and collaborating with students, families, and staff in a manner that glorifies God and promotes a Christ-centered learning environment. Essential duties include providing spiritual leadership, vision setting, and ensuring financial accountability to fulfill the mission and goals established by the board of directors. 

As the chief executive and administrative officer of Washington Christian Academy, the Head of School works closely with the board of directors, staff, and families to implement the vision and carry out the policies of the board.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Acting as the chief administrative officer of the school, having ultimate and final authority for all academic and spiritual aspects of the school.
  • Collaborating with the Finance Committee and staff to create and implement a financial budget for the school.
  • Working with the school staff, administrators, and board of directors to set and meet enrollment and fundraising goals.
  • Actively participating in school and community events and working to foster a supportive and positive Christian environment for all staff, administrators, students, and families.

Candidate Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, leadership, or a related field is desired.
  • 5 years+ of administrative leadership in an educational or similar institution.
  • A meaningful connection to Christian education.
  • Understanding of and commitment to fundraising and development.
  • Fully agree with and support the Reformed Basis of the Constitution, and be an active member of a local church.

The Head of School must: 

  • Personal Faith: Consistently model a mature, growing commitment to Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. 
  • Commitment to Scripture: Believe that the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God, and the ultimate authority in matters of faith and practice. 
  • Church Involvement: Be an active member of a local church. 
  • Theological & Spiritual Knowledge: Demonstrate a passion for and understanding of Reformed Christian education, able to nurture faith in faculty and students. 
  • Christian Character: Exemplify Christian character both on and off campus, displaying integrity, humility, and a God-honoring lifestyle. Serve as a positive Christian role model for students, staff, and the broader community through words and actions. 

Knowledge and Strengths Requirements: 

The Head of School must: 

  • Know and understand the Bible and provide strong leadership that is rooted in Biblical principles.
  • Understand and possess a sound biblical understanding of teaching and learning as it relates to Christian school curriculum and the philosophy of education. 
  • Be wise, visible, present, and approachable. 
  • Supervise, evaluate, and motivate staff. 
  • Demonstrate problem solving and conflict resolution that is Biblically based and in line with school policy. 
  • Be a strong verbal and written communicator. 
  • Possess strong organizational and leadership skills. 
  • Have a solid understanding of finances, budgeting, and forecasting. 
  • Understand, celebrate, and articulate the unique diversity of Washington Christian Academy, shaped by the Scriptures and a biblical worldview.

Education Requirements
