Sophia Academy seeks a visionary leader who will enable us to grow as we fulfill our mission to awaken genius in students with learning differences. The Head of School of Sophia Academy will be a lover of God and man, particularly suited to leading our school with humility, compassion, knowledge, and wisdom. He or she will wholeheartedly embrace the vision and mission of the school, have a strong drive to enhance and expand our programs so that students have more opportunities to utilize the gifts that God has given them, and bring a track record of proven skill and leadership both in and out of the classroom. The HOS should value creativity, play, and divergent thinking.
The Head of School will be (or become) a curricular expert in multi-sensory, research-driven education for students with learning and developmental differences in order to lead teachers with an eye for the future. S/he will embrace and model our Awakening Genius initiative. The HOS will seek all opportunities to expand our reach among Philadelphia students and among teachers throughout the Christian and secular school systems.
The HOS serves as an ex officio member of the Board, executing long-range goals and plans, overseeing the preparation of the budget, and hiring all faculty in line with Board-directed qualifications. Because we value the vision and work of the entire team, the Board and HOS build consensus. In like manner, teachers and the HOS collaboratively determine policies and procedures in the daily running of the school.
Job Requirements
Strong and prayerful Christian faith
Deep familiarity with non-traditional learners and education
Solid experience in educational leadership
Proven record of creative, visionary, and collaborative leadership
Education Requirements
Masters degree preferred
