Job Description
Western Michigan Christian High School is seeking qualified candidates for the position of High School Girls Golf Head Coach. Western Michigan Christian is a Christ centered institution that is aimed at developing young women into disciples of Christ. Western Michigan Christian serves grades 7 – 12 totalling approximately 325 students. WMC competes as an independent school within the MHSAA Division 3.
Athletic Philosophy:
Provide an experience for students and community members that they remember in a positive light for a lifetime.
This person will be the primary point person for WMC Golf and will report directly to the athletic director at WMC.
Job Requirements
Coaching:
- Exhibit strong Golf knowledge and game play strategy that secure a high level of results from in game competition
- Show strong ability to teach and implement the basic fundamentals of Golf
- Former experience of coaching Golf at the high school level or higher
- Follow all MHSAA rules in and out of season while maintaining MHSAA coaching requirements for varsity athletics
Organizational:
- Support the mission and vision of Western Michigan Christian School
- Organize and host summer kids and team camps with the assistance of the athletic department
- Oversee younger levels (JV/Freshman/Middle School) and build community throughout the Golf program
- Coordinate appropriate practice plans for the Golf program
- Lead and implement offseason program
Relational leadership:
- Build Positive relationships with athletes and coaches
- Foster community with collaborative school golf programs to enhance unity and community support
- Communicate and interact with parents, students, and staff while modeling good sportsmanship and christian character
- Show support for overall WMC Athletic Department by supporting other teams during offseason
- Provide an atmosphere where student athletes are challenged spiritually, athletically, and academically
- Willingness to mentor student athletes in their Christian faith.
