Job Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate English teacher who is eager to work with urban students who have diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, committed to fostering a love for learning through innovative, hands-on methods, and able to teach multiple subjects. Having a variety of hobbies is a plus. As an active believer, you will integrate faith into your teaching, demonstrating Christ-like compassion and modeling Christian principles in both your lessons and your interactions with students.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging English curriculum tailored to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities.
  • Utilize creative, hands-on, and experiential teaching methods, including play-based learning, exploration, and activities that foster divergent thinking.
  • Adapt lessons to accommodate various learning styles, providing individualized support and resources to help students succeed.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing classroom environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and emotional growth.
  • Encourage students to express themselves, both verbally and through written work, in a way that is empowering and confident.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and Christian values into lessons, discussions, and classroom culture.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in school events, chapel services, and community-building activities that support the mission and vision of the school.
  • Teach as needed in other subjects

Education Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching credential or certification preferred, but not required.
  • Active Christian faith with a commitment to living out Biblical values both in and out of the classroom.
  • Previous experience working with students with learning disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong creativity, adaptability, and the ability to think outside the box in lesson planning.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children who learn differently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Mission-minded with a desire to contribute to a school environment rooted in faith, love, and academic excellence.
