Elementary Teacher

Job Description

Join our dedicated team of faculty and staff as we partner with families to equip God’s children! T.C.C.S. is searching for a qualified elementary educator to work full time to meet the educational needs of students. The role includes all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing appropriate instructional programs in an elementary learning environment that will guide and encourage our students to fulfill their academic potential and promote positive spiritual development. This full time position reports to the Principal during the approximately 10 month academic school year.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrate knowledge of subject area(s) taught
• Demonstrate knowledge of developmental characteristics of age group(s) taught
• Demonstrate ability to inspire learning and cultivate relationships with students
• Prepare appropriate lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical integration, assessments, and resources
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in education activities to support the learning needs of students
• Utilize appropriate assessment tools to inform and evaluate students learning and progress
• Incorporate classroom technology to enhance learning (when appropriate)
• Implement effective classroom management and discipline strategies to provide for a positive classroom environment
• Update all student records accurately and completely, as required
• Model effective teacher/parent partnerships through timely and professional communication in support of students’ behavioral and academic success
• Integrate Biblical principles throughout all activities
• Follow the Matthew 18 principle of dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and Administration
• Know and follow the procedures for dealing with emergency situations
• Supervise extracurricular activities, as requested
• Demonstrate a willingness to perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Administration

Required Spiritual Qualifications:

• Have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior
• Believe that the Bible is God’s Word
• Be in whole-hearted agreement with Terra Ceia Christian School’s Statement of Faith
• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions
• Be a member of good standing at a church
• Have the Spiritual maturity to “train up a child in the way he should go”

Educator Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in area of instruction)
• Previous effective teaching experience preferred
• Acquired or willingness to acquire educator’s license by a state and/or regional accrediting agency
