Elementary Principal

Job Description

Zeeland Christian School, located in Zeeland Michigan, seeks applications for Elementary Principal for the 2025-26 school year.  The Elementary Principal (Principal) shapes and nurtures Zeeland Christian School’s (ZCS) learning environment, ensuring alignment with ZCS’s mission, vision, values, and long-term strategic goals. The Principal leads excellence in learning, fostering a staff culture of trust and collaboration for staff to feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their work.  The Principal oversees all phases of instructional leadership including educational programming, administration, and discipline. 

The Principal is responsible for building and sustaining a positive Christ-centered school culture where faith, relationships, and learning flourish. The Principal is a member of and works collaboratively with the ZCS leadership team and partners with parents and members of the ZCS community to ensure the school thrives and students reach their fullest potential. 

Successful applicants will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

• Master’s degree in school leadership or related field preferred. 
• Strong knowledge of and experience in Christian Education. 
• At least two years of demonstrated leadership preferred. 
• Experience with language immersion programs preferred. 
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
• Experience with inclusive education along with proven success in working with children of all abilities. 
• At least five years of elementary teaching experience preferred. 
• Experience in ethnically diverse educational settings preferred. 
• Experience utilizing MAP Growth (or similar assessment) data for responsive teaching and program evaluation.
• Experience coaching and effectively supporting teachers through ongoing feedback preferred.  
• Familiarity with competency-based (standards-based) report cards, Restorative Practices, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support implementation (including PBIS), essential literacy practices and reading development, inquiry and project-based learning, professional learning communities, and outdoor education preferred.
