JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Elementary-Middle School Librarian

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employment Status: Part-Time, 20 hours; 10 months

Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning

Date: 2/20/25

PURPOSE/FUNCTION: Plan and deliver lessons that complement and extend classroom learning.  Organize and supervise the use of the library.

Qualifications

  1. Personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission of Moline Christian School.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  3. Adept at using classroom technology.
  4. Ability and flexibility to be trained in a variety of areas.
  5. Ability to work with students with disabilities in inclusion settings.
  6. Character, call, and availability to fulfill the needs of the job description.
  7. Highly motivated and able to work collaboratively.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  9. Ability to problem-solve and think creatively.
  10. Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism in confidential and sensitive student matters.

Essential Job Functions

  2. Encourages use of the library by teachers and students.
  3. Organizes and supervises the circulation of library materials.
  4. Provides library services to meet the needs of teachers and students.
  5. Establishes library policies and procedures.
  6. Selects and orders books that support the mission of Moline Christian School.
  7. Maintains library database.
  8. Keeps the library in order.
  9. Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
  10. Promotes reading for individuals, families, and the school community.
  11. Collaborates with colleagues to support instructional planning.
  12. Works to support students’ unique reading levels and interests.
  13. Manages student behavior in the library setting.
  14. Demonstrates skill in motivating and engaging students in the reading process.
  15. Demonstrates skill in job appropriate technology.
  16. Supervises volunteers.
