Job Description
This role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive advancement programs to engage stakeholders, cultivating relationships and securing resources to support the school’s growth and sustainability. The Director of Advancement and Communications reports directly to the Principal and works collaboratively with the senior staff and school administrators in the West Michigan Christian Education Collaborative.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication:
- Develop and execute a strategic communication plan to enhance the school's visibility and promote its mission, programs, and achievements.
- Oversee the creation of compelling content for various channels, including website, social media, newsletters and press releases.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication platforms to maintain the school's reputation and identity.
Fundraising and Development:
- Lead fundraising efforts by identifying prospective donors, cultivating relationships, and soliciting financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
- Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to meet annual giving goals and support capital projects.
- Manage donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgment, recognition, and ongoing engagement to foster long-term relationships and donor loyalty.
Alumni Relations:
- Develop and implement strategies to engage alumni and foster a sense of community and pride among former students.
- Organize alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities to reconnect graduates with the school and each other.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, staff and volunteers to align advancement efforts with institutional priorities and strategic objectives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the advancement team, including staff and volunteers, to ensure coordinated and effective execution of initiatives.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the school and effectively communicate its mission, values, and impact to internal and external stakeholders.
Education Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in advancement, fundraising, marketing or communications, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of Christian principles and a commitment to promoting and upholding the school's mission and values.
- Excellent writtena nd verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and and implement effective communication and fundraising strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and management abilities, with experience leading teams and collaborating across departments.
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management and fundraising software/tools.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and donor meetings.
