Job Description

The Development coordinator runs the day-to-day operations of the development office while simultaneously ensuring each donor is engaged through an excellent engagement process (thanking, reporting, asking and following up). The Development Coordinator promotes development and the growth of Chicago Christian Schools, growing real relationships with people, helping them see what God is doing in our schools and then challenging them to have the impact only they can have.  

Areas of Ownership and Responsibility: Other duties may be assigned. 

Coordinate the Development Process: Drive an excellent development process that grows support for our schools.

  • Manage the prospect list, focusing on donor retention and regaining past donors. Retain and build relationships with donors on the prospect list by scheduling face-to-face meetings led by the Superintendent.
  • Walk Donors through the Donor Cycle (Thank Yous, Reporting Back, Following Up and Repeating the donor cycle with each new gift). 
  • Keep prospect list current, updating donor status & target levels, adding new donors and removing non-donors, as needed. Document interactions & connections in donor database for increased team communication. 
  • Utilize event involvement in the donor database to find new/potential donors.
  • Work with Finance department and our database manager to track giving totals, identify donor trends and update constituent status annually (e.g., parents, staff, former parents, association members, etc.)
  • Meet and work with Barnabas Foundation and other donor advisory funds to share the opportunity to invest in CCS.
  • Seek out planned giving opportunities such as memorials, bequests, gift annuities, life insurance, etc. 

 

Share the Development Message:

  • Under the direction of the Superintendent, continue to refine the development message to share our story and strategy, providing steps for people to engage.
  • Partner with Events & Marketing Coordinator to reach large donor audiences through events, newsletters and other print and/or digital communications.
  • Be present during school functions to connect with people.
  • Attend special promotional functions at church and Christian education functions in the community to build relationships.
  • Attend development meetings of area Christian schools to promote unity for the common good of Christian education.

 

Event Planning: 

  • Communicate our development message through face-to-face meetings & small group gatherings. Work closely with Admissions and Marketing to reach large groups.
  • Plan small group activities to share the CCS development message and coordinate administrative details, soliciting volunteer support when needed.
  • Plan and execute large group gatherings (Gala’s, dinners, reunions, ceremonies, etc.) that advance our school’s mission, build community and generate support.

Job Requirements

The Development Coordinator must be a committed Christian that maintains a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and communication skills. This person will be a self-starter, will be able to build clear systems that drive effective results and engage in substantive donor conversations. He or she will demonstrate good judgement, be an excellent team player and be highly organized administratively. Most importantly, this candidate will be passionate about the mission and vision of Chicago Christian Schools.


Education Requirements

Qualifications & Position Details:

  • Experience, Training, and Licensure
    • Bachelor’s degree
  • Hourly Position, 30 hours/week, year-round
  • Reports to the Director of Mission Advancement
