Job Description
Purpose:
The purpose of the Development Coordinator position is to coordinate development of relationships with new supporters and maintenance of relationships with current supporters of HIS ministry in order to meet annual funding goals.
Summary:

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan
The Development Coordinator works with HIS team members to create an annual support-raising plan designed to meet annual support-raising goals. The Development Coordinator is responsible for communicating, including meeting in person, with current and new supporters. The position requires ongoing coordination with team members in various locations, including the communications coordinator (based in Thailand), the chief executive officer and chief financial officer (based in Thailand), administrative assistants (based in Western Michigan), and supporters (based in various locations throughout the United States and Canada).

Jobs and Expectations:
As a critical member of a team focused on HIS anti-human trafficking, education-focused ministry, the Development Coordinator seeks the Lord’s guidance to coordinate the development and execution of supporter engagement and stewardship strategies for HIS ministry. This position is responsible for coordinating support for HIS ministry, including raising funds for the ongoing capital campaign. The Development Coordinator communicates and meets with ongoing supporters and new supporters of HIS ministry, as well as developing new support contacts. This requires a division of time between the office and traveling. A majority of travel is within the United States, but there is some travel to Canada, to Thailand, and to other countries as needed.
The Development Coordinator assists in planning and managing support raising events in multiple locations each year. This requires working with local supporters in various locations to plan and prepare events as well as traveling to assist with and participate in events.
Experience/Skills:
The Development Coordinator is: Committed to following Jesus; Focused on and committed to the ministry of HIS; Experienced and strong in communication and networking; Self-motivated and able to complete tasks without continuous guidance; Able to use technology for communication and tracking contacts; Effective at working with other team members.
Bachelor’s Degree in related area preferred.
Experience in Fundraising strongly preferred.
About the Organization:
HIS provides hope and a future to students and families in the developing world by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, providing excellent education, and breaking the cycle of poverty and oppression. HIS operates the School of Promise, a Christian school for local children in grades one through twelve, in Hangdong, Thailand. Roughly half of the students learn on full tuition scholarships because they are at risk for human trafficking. HIS also publishes children’s books and educational materials in the Thai language. We are involved in community development through Christian education in several communities throughout Thailand and look to work with additional communities to open and operate more schools in the future.
Working Conditions:
Small office environment Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m.; Significant travel; Evenings and weekends as scheduled
Starting Salary Range:
$60,000-$75,000, depending on experience and credentials
