Development Associate

The Development Associate is a high-energy self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who serves to further the mission of Covenant Day School. With a focus on community engagement, this role will be responsible for developing (alongside the development director) and implementing strategies that mobilize people to give, advocate, and volunteer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to event coordination, constituent oversight, database management, and relationship building, playing a crucial part in enhancing our fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the development director, the position is a full-time salaried (exempt) role that works throughout the calendar year. Occasional evening and weekend hours are necessary to attend certain meetings and lead events.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of a small team where each team member has multiple areas of focus, this position will oversee special projects and execute various functions for the development team
  • Support the development department in partnering and fostering relationships and efforts with the Parent Association, Admissions Office, Fine Arts, Athletics/Booster Club, and Restore and Sustainability
  • Create and implement strategies to increase and cultivate alumni, and assist with alumni parent, and grandparent engagement
  • Coordinate and execute events such as new parent events, grandparent events, annual Clay Shoot, Parent Association events, Back-to-School Expo, alumni events, and more
  • Assist in administrative duties including maintaining and optimizing development database and systems, ensuring operational excellence
  • Provide administrative support for donor gifts, acknowledgment letters, and deposits
  • Research and identify potential donors and sponsors aligned with the school’s mission
  • Provide excellent customer service and care to all donors and constituents at all times
  • Monitor the success of community engagement strategies and budget
  • Stay current on best practices and trends with parity schools and professional independent school organizations, especially in focused areas related to the role
  • Manage donor portfolio as directed by the development director
  • Support administrative needs of the department including credit card reporting
  • Capital campaign support as needed or directed by the development director
  • Other duties and project work as assigned by the development director or head of school

Qualifications 

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ reflecting a desire to serve Him and others in work and life
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Eager to serve in a Christian learning environment, modeling diligence, perseverance, resilience, patience, courage, and Christian discipleship
  • Previous experience with development/relationship management is required; at least 2 years of relevant experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience in volunteer management and coordination is required
  • Proficient in applicable software including Google Workspace, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook is required, with the ability to learn new software applications
  • Experience with database entry and reporting required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to serve with initiative and proactive approaches
  • Ability to maintain the greatest degree of confidentiality and professionalism in support of the development department
  • Visibility of work requires attention to detail
  • Available to work weekends and evenings is occasionally required
  • Ability to work under pressure both independently and within a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs as needed
