Job Description

This position reports to the Dean of the Career-related Programme with the following duties and responsibilities:

Missional responsibilities

-Model the core values of CVWS in the classroom and school.

-Demonstrate and live CREATION Life in the classroom, guiding students as they develop in each principle.

-Develop students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and mission.

Communication and relationships within the school community

-Establish constructive relationships based on CREATION Life and the IB Learner Profile attributes within the school community to encourage the CVWS culture of service.

-Communicate effectively with the school community to provide support and guidance in achieving the aims of the school.

-Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and cooperative working, developing respectful, supportive and constructive relationships within the school community.

-Assists in the development and facilitation of the school’s programme of inquiry and in communication with the broader school community.

Teaching and learning

-Serve as the pedagogical leader of the CP, assisting teachers in developing and delivering curriculum across the programme.

-Instruct Personal and Professional Skills designed to develop students’ interpersonal, cognitive, and critical thinking skills.

-Facilitate workshops and other professional development opportunities for teachers, including orientation and training to new faculty in conjunction with the Dean of CP.

-Develop Career-related Study tracts for CP students and partner development.

-Ensure that the implementation of the CP is systematically monitored, reinforced and revised as necessary.

-Embody and promote a culture of lifelong learning, supporting teachers in the development and implementation of the CP and DP.

-Serve as a consultant to teachers in matters of inquiry and pedagogy, differentiation, approaches to learning and approaches to teaching to enhance student learning.

-Stay abreast of best teaching practices and shares educational research with teachers.

-Attend collaborative and planning meetings on a regular basis.

-Establish and maintain a record of curriculum in coordination with teachers.

-Lead the process of developing or revising CP curriculum documents, including subject area scope and sequence documents and school policies..

-Coordinate with the Library, creating a learning environment rich in research and functioning as a shared classroom and makerspace.

-Make recommendations for the purchase of suitable resources to assist the teaching of the programme.

-Observe lessons to monitor the use of teaching strategies and the implementation of the CP curriculum and provide feedback and suggestions.

-Assist teachers organizing meaningful field trips to enhance the units of inquiry.

Assessment and data collection

-Assist teachers in the creation of assessments strategies and tools for formative and summative assessments.

-Assist teachers with samples of student work, portfolios, process journals and self-assessment documents.

-In collaboration with the Dean of the Middle Years Programme, work with teachers to analyze assessment tools and modify as needed.

-Help to organize student- led conferences throughout the year.

-Support the development and implementation of school IB policies.

Programme Administration

-Coordinate with the Dean of Career-related Programme to lead the school through the five-year MYP evaluation process.

-Shares responsibility with other programme coordinators for the horizontal and vertical articulation of the IB programme school wide

-Ensure that online IB resources are regularly shared with faculty. Promote and monitor the use of My IB

-In collaboration with the Dean of the Middle Years Programme, organize the logistics of official MYP training in school according to IB requirements.

-Meet regularly with the Dean of the CP to discuss the implementation of the programme.

Other

-Fulfill other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Dean of the CP and Head of School.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three years experience as a DP or CP teacher
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in the school community
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English
  • Experience as a DP or CP Coordinator
  • IBEN Member with experience serving as a DP workshop leader and site visitor.
  • Experience participating in a CP/DP authorization and evaluation processes.
  • Experience writing and developing educational curriculum

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field
