Job Description
Primary Duties:
- Teach instrumental lessons that are developmentally appropriate and engaging for students
- Direct group band sessions.
- Prepare students for participation in group band at BCS and beyond.
- In coordination with the music teacher, prepare students to perform in public (i.e. Christmas Concert, Music Fest, and Spring Concert)
- Select musical pieces that align with our Christian worldview
- Prepare lessons prior to class.
- Use rubrics and benchmarks to assess and report student progress.
- Attend meetings, in-service, training, etc. as required and collaborate with colleagues.
- Provide input and guidance on curriculum decisions related to your subject/content area.

Education Requirements
- B.A. from an an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Candidates with music education training, certification, or previous experience in teaching band and instrumental instruction is preferred.
- Familiarity and skill in playing various instruments.
- A valid teaching certificate is preferred but not required. If not in possession of a current teaching certificate, the teacher must be willing to work toward obtaining a valid teaching license.
