Job Description
Grand Haven Christian (GHC) is seeking a part-time Art teacher for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. The position is four days a week with classes meeting Monday through Thursday and has the potential for employement beyond the current school year.
GHC is a PK-8th grade school serving 465 students in preschool through 8th grade. Located along the shores of Lake Michigan, the school is in the midst of its 145th year of partnering with families to provide a Christ-centered education. Our school’s mission is to educate minds and shape hearts for service to God in His world. Applicants must reflect a Christian worldview in their teaching. Job Requirements
- Possess a strong Christian faith with a solid knowledge of the Bible, a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and a demonstrated character of integrity.
- Possess a passion for Christian education and student discipleship.
- Teachers are expected to prepare and implement lesson plans that engage and challenge the students.
- Teachers must strive to develop a classroom community. This is a classroom that shows love and concern for each member and that works together to perform the tasks that are before them.
- Teachers must use a variety of methods to evaluate student progress, leading to changes in instruction to meet the needs of the students.
- Teachers must maintain communication with parents. Teachers must consider parents to be partners in the task of education.
- Teachers must maintain positive, professional relationships with other teachers, support staff, administration, and the board.
- Teachers must maintain accurate records.
- Teachers must willingly perform duties and serve on committees that may be assigned by the principal and/or school board.
Education Requirements
Applicants should have a degree in either Art or Education and either a valid Michigan State teaching license or willingness to work towards one.
