Job Description, Administrator
The mission of the Tama-Toledo Christian School is to assist families in equipping students with a Christ-centered and Biblical worldview education, while preparing them to impact the world for the glory of God through life-long learning, servant leadership, worship, and stewardship.
Tama-Toledo Christian School is a new independent school in Central Iowa. TTCS will serve God through educating children in a loving Kindergarten through 8th grade school setting. Classes start August, 2025. The building has capacity of over 150 students, allowing for significant future growth. The school will be located in the city of Tama, Iowa in a newly refurbished building. The Tama-Toledo area consists of the two cities totaling approximately 5,000 residents and surrounding rural and small towns with a diverse population, including the Meskwaki Indian Settlement nearby.
TTCS is seeking to hire an administrator that will help us complete our accreditation process, furnish our building, hire teaching staff, craft our curriculum, develop our worship program, and manage the daily operations of the school. The candidate for this position must be a committed Christian that is eager to serve as a key figure in creating and shaping every aspect of the culture of this new school.
TITLE: Administrator, Exempt Employee
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Tama-Toledo Christian School Board
SUPERVISES: All school employees, either directly or indirectly, as indicated by the school’s organizational chart.
EVALUATION: Performance on the job will be evaluated by the Board in terms of this job description and board-defined policy.
OVERVIEW: It is the responsibility of the school’s administration to direct the Board’s programs and policies. These responsibilities include the development, management, and supervision of all aspects of the educational program as designated by the Board.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The administrator must meet the minimum requirements for administrator certification as defined by the school’s accrediting agency. The administrator must also walk in a manner worthy of his or her calling. (Colossians 1:9-13)
The administrator will be directly responsible to the Board for implementing and administering the education program, in agreement with the philosophical basis of the school and according to state and federal requirements.
All staff members are required to be committed believers in Christ and the Holy Bible, and attend their chosen church regularly.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The administrator is the school’s educational leader. Central to the administrator’s responsibilities is a thorough understanding of the goals of Christian education and a commitment to lead the Tama-Toledo Christian School community in pursuit of those goals. The major components of the administrator’s overall task are:
1. Staff—The administrator will participate in a search committee for faculty and support staff openings. The administrator is responsible for the supervision and performance evaluations of the entire staff. The administrator is a facilitator and must provide leadership and direction and promote continued academic and professional growth.
2. Students—The administrator will supervise and coordinate all efforts and programs relative to the education, evaluation, and discipline of the students. The administrator is responsible for the management of student records as mandated by the Board and the State of Iowa.
3. Public Relations—The administrator will actively develop, direct, and promote activities that encourage involvement and a sense of unity among the Board members, staff, parents, and community partners. This includes reminding the Tama-Toledo Christian School community of their responsibilities, and informing the public of the importance, need, and quality of a Christ-centered education.
4. School Board of Directors—The administrator is the school’s educational expert and will advise the Board by providing service data on all educational programs and procedures, informing the Board of educational trends and developments, interpreting staff needs to the Board, assisting the Board in coordinating the overall activities of the school and reporting progress, as well as problems, experienced in pursuit of the school’s educational goals.
5. Spiritual Leadership—The administrator will be responsible for setting the appropriate spiritual tone in the school. Essential to this is providing leadership which enables the school, in its entirety, to be characterized as distinctively Christian.
6. Instructional Leadership—The administrator will provide the context, direction, and incentive that enables the faculty to grow in its ability to engage in genuine and effective Christian instruction. The administrator is also responsible for leading the faculty and the Board in the ongoing development, review, revision, and implementation of a curriculum that fulfills the mission and goals of the school.
7. Budget Management—The administrator will assist the Treasurer in the prudent management of the school’s financial requirements and responsibilities.
8. Administration—The administrator will implement and administer the policies and procedures as directed by the Board, manage the school’s internal operations, and assume responsible leadership of the school and its programs.

Education Requirements
Applicant must have a Bachelor of Science degree in an education or related field. An Administrator Certificate is preferred, but a candidate willing to work towards that certificate while on the job is also welcome.
