Academically Talented Math Support Specialist, Middle School

Job Description

The Specialist serves as a member of support teams charged with the responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating an instructional program relevant to the needs of advanced learners. The Specialist works with teachers and the Academic Program Coordinator to ensure a consistent, effective instructional program for advanced learners and maintains a vision of appropriate mathematical instructional strategies based on current research and practices.  This work will be aligned with classroom standards proficiency scales at the 4.0 level.

• Identifies Advanced Learners within each unit of study at GRCMS. Groups will be fluid and flexible.  
• Teaches small groups of Advanced Learners at GRCMS.  
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to develop programming in Math for grades 5, 6, 7, 8. 
• Develops a system to track the progress of Advanced Learners at GRCMS. Develops and maintains student files.
• Maintains communication with teachers and parents of identified students.
• Communicates with GRCES about Advanced Learners moving from the Elementary Schools to the Middle Schools.
• Coordinator for Enrichment Activities and Clubs (Math Counts, Etc.)
• Testing as needed
