Summary:
This full-time Lead Preschool Teacher will have a variety of responsibilities such as building a cohesive nurturing and quality environment for students to learn and grow in as well as establishing a routine the class can come to know and follow each day. Our preschool teachers are expected to build and maintain excellent relationships with parents, students, and other staff members. Offer clear and professional communication to families. Follow and collaborate on preschool curriculum, standards, and high-quality classroom instruction. There will be certain activities that happen outside of regular classroom schedules such as conferences, the Pumpkinfest Parade, graduation, family nights, mandatory professional development and other events as necessary. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated teacher who has a personal relationship with Jesus and is ready to make a difference in the lives of preschoolers at Zeeland Christian School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create a Christ-centered learning environment by developing and implementing age appropriate lesson plans that incorporate biblical principles, prayers, and Christian values.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate flexibility.
- High classroom management skills with a knowledge of Pyramid Practices in a Preschool setting (or a desire to learn and grow in this area for their classroom). The classroom is kept organized and clean to provide a safe and welcoming space for children
- Ability to make independent decisions and respond to immediate needs of students, emergency situations, and program needs.
- Experience and desire to be a leader for committees/teams as the need arises.
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Collaborate with others by working together with other teachers, staff members, administrators, and families to create a strong community of faith and learning.
- Regularly assess children’s progress and development while communicating with parents about their child’s growth.
- Attend a monthly teacher meeting for the 4s team and teacher team
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities
- Experience in early childhood or early elementary education
- Familiar and comfortable with using a computer (Apple/Mac preferred)
- Has a current Preschool CDA, Early Childhood Associates degree, or Bachelor’s degree in a child-related field
- Flexible organized and adaptable to maintain a large class roster with varied child schedules each day
- Have demonstrated passion for collaboration and improvement with the preschool team
