A Brief Summary of its Provisions and Benefits
General Provisions:
Schools participating in the CSI-Canada Insurance Plan choose between two Plans – the Standard Plan and the Flexible Benefit Plan:
- The Standard Plan has one benefit level for all participants.
- Schools participating in the Flexible Benefit Plan choose between Flex 1, Flex 2, Flex 3 or Employee Choice. If Employee Choice is selected, each employee is allowed to choose the Flex Plan best suited to his/her needs.
- The Limited Benefit Plan (Life and disability benefits) is available to those employees who have health and dental coverage through a spouse’s employer’s plan.
Eligibility:
The Plan is available to active full time and certain part time employees of CSI member schools and affiliated institutions and colleges in Canada.
The Plan is administered by a Board of Trustees; day to day administration and operation is performed by the CSI Employee Benefits Department.
All benefits, with the exception of the Short Term Disability Benefit, are underwritten by Manulife Financial; it also serves as the claim administrator. The Short Term Disability Benefit is self-funded and administered.
