Director of Development

Supporting development efforts for a scholarship-based school in North Philadelphia. Leading growth in our fundraising efforts from $1.2M to $2M.

Since 2002, LOGAN Hope School has existed to foster hope and a future for its students and their families, most of them immigrant and refugee families in North Philadelphia, through transformative academics and Christian discipleship.


LOGAN Hope School seeks a full time Director of Development with experience, organizational skills, and determination to meaningfully lead the multi-year expansion of our development efforts from a $1.2M operational budget to a $2M budget, in concert with a separate school expansion plan. Reporting to the Head of School, this Director is seasoned as a collaborative partner. He or she exhibits wholehearted passion for the city of Philadelphia and supports our statement of faith and mission.


Key responsibilities include:


Development

● Develops and implements a comprehensive fundraising plan that ensures the fiscal health of the organization and provides future financial resources for growth and expansion, including foundations, individuals, churches and businesses.

● Persistently uncovers new potential revenue streams and consistently cultivates and follows up on new opportunities to grow resources. Acts upon opportunities to walk alongside givers in their giving journey and serving as a cause advocate.

● Prospects, identifies, and cultivates new partners capable of funding programs at mid and larger size gift levels. Maintains a strong pipeline of potential funders.

● Responsible for the revenue growth and increased supporter retention rate, providing leadership with results.

● Engages with donors daily, with multiple meaningful touches with each donor annually.

● Champions and expands the EITC/OSTC Tax Credit giving opportunities.

● Maintains constituent information and related activities in the Network for Good CRM. Coordinates with Accountant to assist with any funding reconciliation needed.

● Builds relationships with church communities connected to service opportunities and summer partnerships in support of the school’s mission.

● Serves as an onsite liaison for volunteers and visitors serving at the school.


Communication

● Project manages a system that includes regularly and closely engaging Head of School in donor relationships, including arranging donor meetings and organizing donor follow up actions.

● Manages tasks and deadlines for grants and proposals as set by Grant Writer and Head of School

● Provides detailed fundraising progress reports to the Head of School on a regular basis (weekly) and input pertinent donor information into CRM.

● In coordination with the Head of School, prepare and manage the development budget.

● Creates plans and implements fundraising communications, including newsletters, receipts, thank you acknowledgements.

● Communicates stories and programs in creative ways that will evoke a response from partners, donors, as well as attract new supporters.


Stewardship

● Prays for LOGAN Hope stakeholders on a weekly basis.

● Champions fundraising and set a culture of Biblical stewardship among staff, volunteers and board.

● A learner at heart, seeks input in approaches from the Development Coach and the Head of School.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

● At least 5 years experience in fundraising and/or sales experience.

● Proven track record of success in development including corporate and individual giving, program sponsorship.

● Demonstrated ability to build and lead, cultivating collaborative relationships at all levels, drawing on mature emotional intelligence to foster mutual trust and respect.

● Excellent people, relationship building and storytelling skills.

● Proven experience as a strategic partner, leading projects and building systems within an organization.

● A self-starter who manages multiple projects effectively, including developing timelines, setting priorities, and coordinating the work of multiple staff members.

● Ability to set and meet deadlines and work flexibly within a fast-moving environment.

● Strong project management skills: ability to be proactive, hands on, extremely organized, efficient and to manage multiple projects with great accuracy.

● Budget management skills and experience.

● Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

● Willingness to grow, learn and pursue best practices in the field of Development.

● Lives within 1.5 hours of the Philadelphia area; is available to travel once a week into LOGAN Hope.

Position Benefits

Salary range $70-80K, commensurate with experience.

Full-time position.
