Be Healthy

As we get ready for another exciting school year, Christian Schools International is working hard to prepare curriculum, train leaders, and support our members through all that we do. This year we have been inspired by one of our leaders to embrace a theme of physical, mental and spiritual challenge.

To celebrate turning 50 and the impact of Christian Schooling on his life, Howard Van Mersbergen, CSI’s Vice President for Employee Benefits will join a select number of runners around the world in attempting to run the World Marathon Majors during school year 2008-2009. The marathon major takes the outstanding effort and commitment of running one marathon and multiplies it by a factor of five. To complete the challenge, Howard will participate in the Berlin, Chicago, New York, Boston and London marathons.

The races will take place on the following dates:

BERLIN: September 28, 2008

CHICAGO: October 12, 2008

NEW YORK: November 2, 2008

BOSTON: April 20, 2009
FLORA LONDON: April 26, 2009

To make the most of this bold effort, CSI is championing Howard’s passion for running to build awareness for the importance of a healthy mind, body, and spirit throughout the Christian education community. Our goal is to share in Howard’s experience and raise awareness of all that CSI does to keep Christian education healthy in mind, body and spirit. We also hope to raise $200,000 through sponsorships of Howard’s effort. Funds raised will be used for:

  • Promotion of increased physical activity for all students in school.
  • The development of academically rigorous and Biblically based learning resources for the Christian School classroom.
